Liverpool, mon amour Photo by Agnes Visser-de Matteis In 1992, I moved from France, my country of origin to go to England. After 6 months in London, I moved to Liverpool and this was love at first sight. I thought I would only be staying a few months but in fact, I just couldn't leave so I found a job and lived in various areas of Liverpool for 9 and a half years (Blundellsands, Birkenhead, Sefton Park, near the Anglican cathedral etc...) It was a wonderful experience and when I left Liverpool, I understood for the very first time the meaning of homesick. Over my years there, I have met wonderful people, who became and remain my friends. I also met my husband, a Dutch guy in 1996 in the Philarmonic Pub! We still laugh about it. It was snowing that day and we were a gang of people, going from pubs to pubs. One of us got even arrested by the police but I do not remember why any longer! We went back to the 'Pool'for weddings & christennings over the last few years and this photo was taken near Blundellsands in May 2005, during a walk with a fantastic woman, who did welcome me when I first came to Liverpool. She, with all her family came to our wedding in Brittany and we hope see them this summer, in Germany where we now live. Liverpool will always have a very special place in my heart and somehow will remain my true home, wherever I am. Enter your picture Back to images menu More Community images: |
