Never Heard of Terence Davies until..................... by John Irving It must be possibly 4 or 5 years ago I switched on Radio 4 and came in part way through the "book of the week". I instantly was hooked and continued until the last installment. This was "Travels in Celluloid" by Terence Davies. Over the next days, months, I attempted to obtain it without success. How cruel can you get - reading out a book that is unobtainable !. Only now have I hope. His literary agent - Peake Associates - have informed me that the book is in the pipeline. I feel a strong affinity with the memories although I am originally from Carlisle, but always remember first visiting my Auntie,Uncle and cousins in Birkenhead 50 years ago and subsequently over the years (although she became "posh" and moved to Heswall), until she died a couple of years ago. Having read read the reviews about the latest film "Of Time and City" I have booked my tickets for the showing this week in Glasgow as I now live in Ayrshire. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to tell my brief story. John Irving.
