My Mother in Law is a Scouser by noel quigley My Mother in Law is a scouser,but she's top class,as she would see humour in a dark room.She likes me and I like her,if only her daughter was half as much fun!.She was born to an affluent family in Garston,her Dad was an officer on the Liverpool based Elder Dempster line,and she and her only sister as babes had a "nanny" each,how posh was that? However Hitler intervened and her Dad's ship the MV ADDA was torpedoed and sunk off Sierra Leone in 1941 and her Dad was one of just 6 who died.Poverty arrived slowly,but arrive it did,the wrong decisions and a bad second marriage for the widow saw them emigrate to Canada which was a financial disaster,and return to Liverpool in 1955 with literally nothing.She married well,and raised a family in Northern Ireland in the 70's,not an easy time.In all that time she kept her scouse humour despite the world outside her door,Belfast humour is equally dark and strong and she loved her second city as much as her first.Thats my story,my Mother in Law is a Scouser Enter your story Back to main stories page |
